Lockout/Tagout Procedures

>

De-energized circuits MUST be locked out and/or tagged so that they cannot be energized while an employee is working on them. Once lockout/tagout has been applied to the circuit, a qualified person must verify that the equipment cannot be restarted. Employers must develop and maintain a written copy of the lockout/tagout procedures and make it available to employees. If any de-energized equipment has not been locked out or tagged, it should be treated as energized.
