Face Shield with Balaclava

>

Balaclavas cover the head and neck, offering nearly 360 degree, gap-proof protection. They can be worn under a protective hood or on their own. Best practice is to tuck these into the shirt and cover the chin. They are not typically designed to cover the mouth/ nose.

There are many types of arc-rated face shields. Face shields without an arc-rating shall not be used. Even though they may look similar, face shields without an arc-rating could melt and severely injure a worker if an arc flash occurred. Eye protection (safety glasses or goggles) must be worn under face shields or hoods.
